When you are not looking...

This is what happens when my son is left to his own devices...

And what was I doing while my son was making a mess (and feeding himself, I might add), taking pictures of my beautiful flowers, of course.

I have tried for three unsuccessful years to have a pretty backyard.  This year, thanks to a little Miracle Grow, I actually have a few survivors!!!

Thank you Aunt Mistie!!

One Memorable Weekend

This weekend was an extra special weekend for us.  We celebrated Kai's 4th birthday and Andrew's Baptism.

The weekend started with Kai's Superhero birthday party at Meyer Park.  All of Ryan's family came in from out of town, plus we invited Kai's friends from school.  All of the kids dressed up as their favorite superheros.  We had Optimus Prime, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Anikan Skywalker, a Storm trooper, a ballerina, and a few originals.  It was a blast.  The kids played, we ate pizza and cake, we played pin the S on the Superman, and we opened some super cool presents.  Kai had a wonderful time, and we hope that everyone had as much fun as we did.

Sunday we went to church to have Andrew baptised by the same pastor who confirmed Ryan back when he was a kid.  All of Ryan's family was with us, so it made the event extra special.  We were so happy that so much of our family got to take part in this very important day for us.

And what baptism celebration is not complete without a slip and slide.  Yes, after church we broke out the slip in slide for some good old fashion fun.

On Monday, which was Memorial day, and Kai's true birthday we went to Chuck E. Cheeses to celebrate just as a family.

This weekend gave me summer fever!!! I can't wait  until school is out and I get to spend the entire summer playing with my boys.

Habitat for Humanity

This Saturday, Ryan and I participated in our first, of hopefully many, Habitat for Humanity builds. It was awesome!! It is something I have always wanted to do, but seeing as I have no idea how to build anything... never really had the courage to go and try. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They wasted no time teaching me how to use a nail gun and a circular saw. I helped close in the side of the house, while Ryan worked on the roof. Our church, along with a few other Methodist churches in the area are sponsoring the house. The house next door was being built entirely by women, and the house next to that was being built by youth. How amazing is that!! This is a great organization and if you have ever considered going out and volunteering for them... I suggest you just go for it, I hate that we waited so long to get involved. Now I just have to talk my mom in watching the kids for a few more Saturdays....

I never...

I never would have left my first child alone in a bed while he slept (on his stomach and under the covers) when he was only a month old....

I never would have let my first child get his face painted at a carnival when he was only 5 months old...

And, I never would have given my first child a pickle for lunch when he was only 6 months old....

Poor Andrew, he doesn't stand a chance.
