Everybody Get Dangerous, Everybody Get Dangerous... BooYah!

So while I was painting Andrew's new room, my ingenious husband and fearless son decided to make a slide out of the mattress we removed from the room.

Amazing Grace

We just finished a very tiring week of VBS. It was a whole lot of fun and the whole family got to participate. Kai was in the three year old preschool class, I taught a group of 5 year olds, and Ryan, being Ryan, assisted in music and dance. We came home exhausted everyday, but it was worth it!! And if anyone had any doubt who Ryan's son was... all you had to do was look to the stage. Kai wanted to be front and center just like his daddy all week. One day he stayed up on stage dancing during the three year old performance, as well as the four year olds, and the five year olds. He would have stayed up longer, but his class had to leave the gym. He woke up every morning asking if it was time to go to bible school, and he came home every afternoon telling you the name of the days bible buddies and what it stood for, so we think he got a lot out of the week. Ryan and I both got to meet a lot of adults we did not know before, and I realized that I might like to teach Sunday school (after the baby comes, of course), so the whole family took something positive away from the week. I have video coming of Ryan performing a rap on the last day.... so stay tuned.

Hot, Hot, Hot

Our air conditioner went out today and we are HOT!! It is going to cost between $3000-7000 to fix, depending on how well we want to fix it (patch it up or replace it). So while we try to figure out what we are going to do, we are sweating it out. Luckily, my parents live close and are letting us stay at their home tonight, and the next couple of days are going to be pretty busy, so we won't be home much. Just keep us in your prayers and if you have any spare change laying around, we are accepting donations!!

Monster Mash

Monsters have officially invaded Kai's closet.  He came out of his room tonight after I put him to bed and told me that he was scared.... he had monsters in his closet.  I told him to tell me about the monsters, so he said there is a red one, a blue one, a green one and a yellow one.

He told me the red one was really really tall, with long arms and long legs, and long fingernails, and a long neck.  He blue one is really small, with a small face and small knees, and small feet and small arms.  The green one is big, just like the red one, and the yellow one is a tiny tiny baby monster.

I told Kai these monsters sound a lot like our family, the red and green ones are the mommy and daddy, the blue one is a little boy monster just like you, and the yellow one is a baby, just like the baby in mommy's tummy.  I told him that I bet they were not  trying to be scary at all, they  probably just wanted to be friends.

So, he sat there for a minute and thought about it and then he said.... But mommy, I forgot to tell you about the gorillas.

It was such a cute story... I just had to share.

Your love is like a rollercoaster, baby!!

Ryan really loves to buy things second hand... and usually I am all for his thriftiness. However one day he came home from the Salvation Army with a 1276 piece K'Nex rollercoster building set, ages 10 and up... for our three year old. I promptly put it in the hall closet hoping all would be forgetten, and for a while it was.

But wouldn't you know it, the week Ryan goes out of town, Kai rediscovers the rollercoaster and wants to build it. So what does any good mom do.... she starts piecing all 1276 pieces together for her adoring son. I built the frame and Ryan got home in time to assemble the track and get it working.

Kai loves it and even though it takes up our entire living room floor, it is pretty impressive.
Today we went and saw Kunfu Panda. I guess Po instilled some courage in Kai, because when he got home he was ready to try out his big boy bike for the first time this summer.
He only fell once and got right back up and started riding again. He is such a big boy!!!
