Adrift

I don't think Kai could have asked for a better birthday weekend. We had his party on Saturday over at his Mimi and Pappa's house and all of his family came. We swam, ate chili dogs and opened a ton of presents. Kai was excited about everything he received. He got cars, cars, and more cars, art supplies, books, puzzles, and a slip and slide. It is Monday now, and I think he has already played with every single one of his birthday presents.

The official party ended around 7pm, but the real party started when we got back to the house and Kai got to play with all of his new toys with his cousins who were spending the night. I don't think any of the kids went to bed before midnight.

The next day, after church, we loaded up the car and drove down to Galveston. Kai spent the day playing on the beach with Ella, Micah, and Kaitlin. Ryan and Doug got to play a little too, but there play time was cut short by an infestation of baby crabs that invaded their pants as they were boogie boarding. (don't worry it wasn't just them-- the whole beach cleared out of the water at once with all the swimmers digging their hands down their pants-- it was quite a sight) After the beach we all headed into town for Kai favorite meal- Taco Cabana followed by Marble Slab ice cream. It was another late night for us-- we didn't get home until after midnight due to the Memorial day traffic-- but it was all worth it. Kai had a blast and we got to spend a lot of time with Ryan's family, which is always fun.

This weekend made me really antsy for summer to begin. Kai has grown up so much and can do just about anything. I think we are going to have a very memorable summer filled with family, friends, and fun.

Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money in My Hand

We got a new camera today, so hopefully we'll post more pictures.

Let's see. This weekend Lindsay and I decide to revamp our computer room. We went to Target, Ikea, and some furniture store about 45 miles away. We had our first successful roof-tie-down experience from that store. We've decided to make that room into a beach/surf/whatever room and we made a large stride so far. I love working on the house sometimes. We do plan to fix up the extra bedroom this summer for #2. I hope it is a boy for decoration sake.

Saturday after shopping Scott (lindz's bro) asked us to go to Splashtown for free for about an hour. The water was freezing and Kai's teeth chattered the entire time, but he loved it. Scott recently landed a job there and is loving it so far, which makes us happy. BONUS, however, is that he can hook us up with an incredible deal for the summer.

I've decided to go with Doug this summer to U.M. Army. I think that's exciting because we don't really hang out anymore and I think we'll have a lot of fun.

Hmmmm.... you know we are crazy busy all the time and I feel like we are having fun all the time, but when you write it down sometimes.... it seems boring. Oh well.

Lindsay is in week 15 and feeling fine. (blessing)

Kai is doing great. He's always wanting to do stuff his way and he is having some "moments" when he doesn't. He is 2 going on 3.

and I'm just happy last week is over with because TAKS creates a lot of tension in a school.

Peace, Love, and Soul,

R
