Spring Break!!

I am a little late in all my blogs (due to general laziness) so I am having to back track just a little.

SPRING BREAK 2014!!!!!

We spent the first night of Spring Break down in our own private little get away at Galveston.  My parents bought a trailer just past Jamaica Beach last year and we have really enjoyed going down there and taking mini vacations.

This early in the season we have the whole place to ourselves.  It was too cold to go swimming but the weather was just right for flying kites and building sand castles.

Later in the week we went up to East Texas.  We got to spend one day with all of our friends in Longview and then another two visiting family.

This was the first spring break in a long time that Ryan has not been off with everyone due to work, so it took a little adjusting too.

It was a easy week spent playing games, playing at parks and enjoying the cool (but not quite yet spring time) weather.

The many faces of Mia

Mom and Dad's Azalea bush was in full bloom, so I  took advantage of the moment by taking some sweet pictures of my little girl in front of them...I at least got one!!

The real story I need to share though is the fact that Malia got here ear's pierced this past week.  If you look closely you can see her earrings in the pictures.

We went to Merle Norman to get it done.  She went in all brave and confident and got right up in the chair with no problem.  The lady talked her through the whole process and she responded back that she was ready.  Then we did the first ear....and it was all over.  Uncontrollable screams, drooling uncomprehending speech...the whole nine yards.  After about 15 minutes of that we decided to go home and have a little ice cream and reassess the situation.
After a fudge bar and a pep talk she was ready again.  Once again she walked right in and got right in the chair.  She talked to the lady and told her she was ready, and when we pierced the second ear....she laughed!

She jumped down and ran to the mirror and admired her beautiful ears.  She was full of smiles and giggles the rest of the afternoon and anyone we came in contact learned real quick that she "was a big girl and got her ear's pierced and didn't even cry."

Luckily the second memory erased the first.

Games People Play

My kids love to play games, and I love that they are getting to the age where they can play games that I love to play too!!

I realize that I will have many more years of Go Fish, and Operation, and Chutes and Ladders ahead of me, and I will try to cherish those...

But to know that teaching them those, leads to a joy of playing more advanced games with actual strategies, makes me very happy.
