Vacation, all I ever wanted. Vacation, had to get away

So much has been going on lately it hard to know where to start with this blog. Ryan's family gave us a baby shower on August 2, and it was great. We got a lot of cute things for Andrew and a lot of gift cards to help us prepare for his arrival. At the shower all the kids (and a few adults too) went swimming and my son showed everyone how he had learned to use the bathroom outside. Unfortunately, he showed everyone how he could pee-pee and poo-poo outside. Needless to say our host got a little extra fertilizer for their yard this year. Sorry Karen and Greg.

Then we headed up to Oklahoma with with Ryan's family to Beaver's Bend. We had a great time swimming in the freezing cold water, canoeing, and hiking through the woods. It was fun just getting to hang out with everyone eating good food and playing games. The kids had a blast, it is so fun to see them together.

The next day our family headed over to Arkansas, to Crater of the Diamond State Park. We spent a few unlucky hours digging for diamonds, then headed to the water park. I don't know who had a better time going down the slides, Ryan or Kai. That night we started back home, but made a pit stop at Ryan's grandma's house to visit with more family. The next morning we went fishing at Ryan's uncle and aunt's house and Ryan caught 5 fish. None of them were keepers, but Kai had fun getting an up close look at the fish.

We ended the trip by spending the night with Joey and Alex in Dallas, and going out to dinner with our friends Rita and Marcus.

After 6 days on the road we were ready to get home and relax. We spent the next couple of days doing nothing.

Kai started school this week and is having a blast. Today he didn't even want to come home because he was digging for treasure in the sand box with a new friend. I think this is going to be a really good year for him a school.
